Meet the 2020-2021 Interns!

This year we have 5 new interns here at HopeClub and we would like to take a moment to introduce them to you!!!

Sukhpreet:

Hi everyone, my name is Sukhpreet Grewal ( she, her, hers ) and I am so excited to be a ACS Hope Club Intern! I currently am a senior in the Social Work program at the University at Albany. When I’m not studying or working, I love to either exercise or spend time with loved ones as much as possible. I know I am going to learn an immense amount at my time with Hope Club and I hope to meet as many of you all as possible! Also here is a quote that is a part of my values and I like to follow in my professional and educational career
“Work hard in silence and let success be your noise”

Carissa:

Hello, my name is Carissa Pellerin. I am in the Advanced Standing Social Work program at the University of Albany. In May, I graduated from Plattsburgh State University with my BSW. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, baking, spending time with my friends, family, and my cat Nala. I began my internship with the Hope Club about two weeks ago and I love it already, I am so excited to continue meeting and working with everyone! Here is a quote that I love and wanted to share with everyone: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” -Vivian Greene

Lily

Hello!! My name is Lily Rasmus (she, her, hers) and I am in my senior year at UAlbany in the Social Welfare Program!  I spent the last 5 ½ years running my own bakery-café in the Adirondacks with my husband and mother until I made the choice in 2019 to change careers and go back to school.  I love living in the Capital Region, city life is the life for me!  Now that I am in my last year of my BSW I am applying to Law School so I can get my MSW and JD together!!!  I don’t know where my path will ultimately lead me, but I do know that I will be a force of change wherever I land!  My favorite things are my horseback riding lessons and rubbing my face on my fur babies!

Clare

Hi everyone! My name is Clare and I’m so thankful to be a part of the HopeClub family this year. I am a second year Master in Social Work student at UAlbany. My professional goal is to use my degree to become an oncology social worker. At the heart of my love of social work is the theme of advancing one’s quality of life. If I can provide support of any kind to the individuals I come into contact with throughout my career, I will consider myself successful.
Outside of social work, I love to craft, particularly sewing and painting. I like to run, as well! I have run a half marathon, and my goal is to complete another. I also enjoy traveling and my favorite country is Ireland. I have a deep love for dogs, but I am a new cat aunt, as my roommate has recently adopted a kitten!
Thank you again for welcoming me, I look forward to getting to know you all!

Chelsea

My name is Chelsea Harrington and I’m an advanced standing masters social work student at the University at Albany. I received my bachelor’s degree in social work from SUNY Plattsburgh back in 2017. I took some time off to work as a Case Planner for a prevention agency in Albany. Some of the things I love to do are drawing, dancing and playing video games. I also love trying new restaurants and food with my friends. I look forward to being an intern here at HopeClub and meeting everyone in the process.
